Kutip – People of The Book

Tiap hari Sabtu, Mordechai mengajar anak-anak muda Yahudi yang ada di Austria. Saat itu, kaum Yahudi tersebar secara sporadis sebagai imigran di banyak negara. Mordechai menanamkan doktrin kepada anak-anak muda tersebut bahwa bangsa Yahudi harus kembali ke ‘tanah yang dijanjikan’.

Isak -salah satu muridnya- bertanya: “Kenapa harus kesana dan bersusah-sudah merintis negeri baru padahal sudah hidup layak di Austria?”

Ini kata Mordechai:

“What do you will? Is it to do the pigeon dance scratching around for the crumbs of others, or will you be desert hawks, and soar to your own destiny?” –Mordechai

“So, you are happy to be a pigeon?”

“Maybe so. But at least pigeon doesn’t harm. The hawk lives at the expense of the other creature that dwell in the desert.” –Isak
